Starting a New Project
Thinking about starting your new project?
During this time of self-isolation and lockdown, it might be just the right time to start working on your new project and prepare for when life gets back to normal. With everyone at home and many now not working as much it is the time to explore new opportunities. Now is the ideal time to get started on a blog, online shop or new business website.
Getting your new project launched can be a challenge at the best of times so it is important to spend time planning well. When you're starting something new, always do your homework. Then you can proceed with confidence and turn your new project into a reality. Most ideas will need an online presence to promote its goals. Getting a website set up as well as social media channels is the first step.
Your Vision
Time to launch your project and start your blog, business or online shop. Whether you are a budding entrepreneur or looking for a creative outlet, define your goal and focus on what the project is going to accomplish.
Defining tasks and checklists
Define the tasks as clearly as possible. Create a list of tasks that need to be completed and decide with ones you can do yourself and which ones you need to outsource. Look at your budget, project timeline, and compile a list of tools and resources that you will need.
Getting your project online
Once you have your project outlined its time to start on your website. You will need to buy your domain name, choose a web hosting service and decide which platform you will be using (custom build, Wordpress, Drupal, e-commerce platforms such as WooCommerce, etc). Most platforms have excellent features and offer solutions for all kinds of project types. You may have some questions at this point, so check out our web services faq's.
Website design process
Once you have your final approved logo and branding you can get started on the design of your website. You can choose to use a template or create a custom website of your own design. There are loads of tutorials out there on YouTube and tech blogs to help with this.
Finding the right images to use on your website. There are lots of free image websites, with high quality images, vectors and art illustrations for your website, blog or project. Many sites offer high quality professional photographs free to use for personal and commercial needs.
Outsourcing design and development Depending on the scale of the project you may decide to hire a designer and developer to help you to achieve your vision. If you are building a more complex website, you may want to have a professional server side developer. Outsourcing a team to help with logo design, sitemap structure, page layout and SEO.
Ongoing website management Once your website is live, you will have to ensure that you understand your continuing maintenance tasks. Keep in mind that software will need to be updated, backups made, security scanning and hosting will need to be managed.
